Back to School Home Buying Basics

Welcome to Home Buying 101

How time flies! The kiddos are back in school, and my mind has definitely been thinking about the importance of a good education. A good Real Estate education is important, too. So, let’s embark on an exciting educational journey of our own. It’s time for a crash course on home buying—consider it a Real Estate 101 course. Of course, home buying is serious business. Potential homebuyers have a world of knowledge to uncover before making one of life's most important decisions. Let's break down the home-buying process that may help you better navigate the process. I am here to help you—start to finish on a timeline that works perfectly for you.

Home Buying Orientation: Introduction to the Process

Let’s start your home-buying journey with a brief orientation. Our first goal is simply to understand the basics of the home-buying process, including key terms, the roles of various parties, and the overall timeline. You may have important questions about the local market and I am here to answer your questions and help you develop a strategy that works for you.

Math Class: Setting Your Budget and Financing

Math is a critical part of the home-buying process. Calculate your budget by speaking to a mortgage professional who will help evaluate your finances and determine how much you can comfortably afford. You’ll learn about mortgage options and interest rates, getting acquainted with the numbers that will shape your home-buying equation. If you need a great lender, let me know and I can help you get started.

History Lesson: Researching the Market

This is a cool thought: History shapes the future, and researching the real estate market's history helps you predict its trajectory. Together, we can study the local market trends, property values, and historical sales data to make informed decisions.

Science Lab: Inspecting and Evaluating Properties

Here’s the fun part: Enter the science lab of home buying, where you'll learn to inspect and evaluate properties. Many homebuyers rely on “gut instinct” and although emotion definitely plays a role, research and analysis are essential in helping you find the right home.

Geography: Exploring Neighborhoods

Location, location, location. We’ve heard it all a million times—and it’s true. Together we will explore neighborhoods, local amenities, schools, transportation options, and the overall vibe of different areas. I love to share my neighborhood expertise with my clients!

Language Arts: Navigating Contracts and Negotiations

I’ll help you understand the unique language of real estate and together, we will hone your skills in understanding contracts and negotiations. I can decode the complex language of real estate agreements, and help you negotiate effectively. Communication is key.

Graduation: Sealing the Deal

Are you ready for graduation? I will walk you through the steps of the closing process, complete the necessary paperwork, and celebrate your successful home purchase. Give me a call if you’d like to learn more! Of course, there’s no obligation. Let’s learn together!
