No Such Thing as a Real Estate Unicorn

The real estate market is a competitive one, and it can be easy to get caught up in the excitement of finding your dream home. However, it's important to remember that there is no such thing as a perfect property with perfect finishes in a perfect location at a perfect price. In fact, I like to call that concept a “Real Estate Unicorn” because it just doesn’t exist.

Every home has its own unique set of pros and cons, and it's important to be realistic about your expectations.

Here are a few tips for avoiding the allure of the real estate unicorn:

1. Set realistic expectations. When you're first starting your search, it's important to sit down and make a list of your must-haves and nice-to-haves. This will help you narrow down your search and avoid getting discouraged by homes that don't meet all your criteria.

2. Be willing to compromise. No home is going to be perfect, so it's important to be willing to compromise on some things. For example, if you're set on a certain neighborhood but can't find a home that fits your budget, you may need to consider a smaller home or a different neighborhood.

3. Be open to change. When you're viewing homes, it's important to be open to change. You may not love the color of the walls or the layout of the kitchen, but these things can be changed. Focus on the bones of the house and what you can do to make it your own.

4. Don't be afraid to walk away. If you're not happy with a home, don't be afraid to walk away. There are other homes out there, and you don't want to settle for something that's not right for you.

Remember that real estate unicorns are often created, not found.

Be patient, be realistic, and be willing to compromise. With a little bit of luck, we'll find the perfect home for you. Let’s get started today!
